Flavour tells the story of the humiliation that marked his beginnings against P-Square.

The Nigerian singer Chinedu Okoli, better known as Flavour Nabania, recounted a particularly humiliating experience he had alongside the now-separated group P-Square while he was still struggling to establish himself on the music scene. In a recent interview with a podcast, the performer of “Ada Ada” revisited a night during which a club manager had forced him to leave the stage to give way to P-Square, who had arrived in the middle of his performance.

Flavour explains that the reception given to the famous duo by the audience deeply affected him, leading him to question the difference between their music and his. “Once, I was playing when P-Square arrived, and the manager of the venue asked me to leave the stage immediately.” Forced to comply, the singer then joined the audience. “I turned off my mic and went to sit down somewhere. The women screamed and applauded frantically as soon as Paul from P-Square took the mic and started singing ‘Temptation’.”

Faced with this enthusiasm, Flavour struggled to understand such a difference in treatment. “I wondered if we were not ultimately making the same music, because I had already performed there and the audience had never cheered for me like that.” Despite the public humiliation he experienced, the artist asserts that he did not let it get him down. On the contrary, he turned this episode into a source of motivation to continue working hard and advancing in his career. “I did not let this experience discourage me. On the contrary, I took it as motivation to work harder. And here we are today,” he concluded.
