SUMMARY

On October 24, 2026, Cotonou will host the inaugural T.Y.L.A Fashion Week organized in Benin. Led by The Young Leadership Africa, the project “I AFFIRM” will feature nine designers and 36 models in a show touted as the highlight of a week dedicated to fashion.

This event marks the first Beninese edition of the platform after two previous editions in Switzerland, held in Geneva and Lausanne. The official website outlines activities from October 20 to 24 and limits the runway show to 200 attendees.

The program includes a modeling workshop on October 20, a session focused on the identity of the designers the following day, and a day dedicated to photography on the 22nd. The runway show is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, with doors opening at 4:30 pm.

The creative angle claimed blends African heritage with contemporary minimalism. T.Y.L.A aims to connect creators based in Benin, the diaspora, and professionals from Europe in a format that combines runway, training, and networking.

A new showcase for Beninese fashion

The project was first reported in May by the specialized media Clearly Invincible, which announced an initial show in Cotonou and a call for Beninese designers. Since then, the organization’s public communications have highlighted local professionals, including Kpessèton Bienvenu Badou, president of the Network of Agencies and Institutes of Models of Benin.

For young talents, the interest extends beyond merely walking the runway. The workshops focused on modeling, brand identity, and photography also highlight the professions surrounding a collection, from its presentation to the construction of its image.

The official ticketing offers a student rate of 5,000 FCFA and a standard entry at 10,000 FCFA. VIP packages are priced starting at 35,000 FCFA for the Gold category and 70,000 FCFA for the Prestige category.
