Champions League: PSG crushes Slovan 6-1, Ferran Torres nets hat-trick

Paris Saint-Germain launched its Champions League campaign with a commanding performance against Slovan Bratislava, winning 6-1 on Wednesday, September 9, at Parc des Princes. Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick, Ousmane Dembélé netted a brace, and Fabián Ruiz capped off the scoring, while Suleiman Camara scored the lone goal for the Slovak side.

Paris quickly took control of the match. Dembélé opened the scoring in the 17th minute, capitalizing on a rebound off the post following a shot from Nuno Mendes, before doubling the lead with a header six minutes later. The Frenchman then assisted Ferran Torres to make it 3-0 in the 32nd minute.

PSG extended its lead shortly after the break. Torres scored in the 47th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute, again assisted by Dembélé. Slovan Bratislava pulled one back through Suleiman Camara in the 60th minute, but it did little to alter PSG’s dominance.

Fabián Ruiz set the final score at 6-1 in the 88th minute. Dembélé finished the night with two goals and two assists, while Ferran Torres marked his first Champions League appearance for Paris with a hat-trick, just a month after joining from Barcelona for €50 million.

This result ends a four-match winless streak for PSG across all competitions since their UEFA Super Cup victory against Aston Villa on August 12. The reigning two-time European champions, following consecutive titles in the Champions League, secured three points on the opening day of the league phase.

Thanks to their goal difference (+5), Paris sits atop the standings after this first matchday, ahead of FC Barcelona. Their next Champions League fixture is scheduled for October 14 away to Manchester City.
