Benin: The government authorizes the construction of 35 integrated centers.
The Beninese government has officially approved, in a cabinet meeting, a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at modernizing social services throughout the country.
The initiative includes the construction of 35 integrated economic, social, and digital centers, to be located across 26 municipalities.
This project is part of the Productive Social Safety Net Program and aims to provide better support to extremely poor households and vulnerable populations, particularly through a progressive financial support system for the development of income-generating activities.
These new structures will also enable the transformation of traditional Social Promotion Centers into one-stop shops for social protection, bringing together various services in a single location.
The municipalities targeted in this initial phase include, among others, Parakou, Nikki, Tchaourou, Kandi, Banikoara, Natitingou, Cotonou, Porto-Novo, Abomey-Calavi, Ouidah, Bohicon, and Abomey.
Architecturally and functionally, these centers will house one-stop shops for social security services, branches of the Benin Post Office, and community digital access points. The Council of Ministers has already authorized the delegated project management and has instructed the relevant ministers to ensure its proper implementation.
