Benin: major decisions of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, September 2
After a month of vacation, Romuald Wadagni’s government met this Wednesday in an ordinary Council of Ministers session. Several decisions were made during this meeting.
MAJOR DECISIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2026
REGULATORY MEASURES
- Transmission to the National Assembly for authorization to ratify the Republic of Benin’s accession to the Export Development Fund in Africa;
- Transmission to the National Assembly for authorization to ratify the agreement establishing the Shelter Afrique Development Bank;
- Amendment of decree no. 2023-119 of March 29, 2023, establishing, defining the powers, organization, and functioning of the Special Economic Zones Approval Committee;
- Amendment of decree no. 2021-068 of February 17, 2021, defining the powers, composition, organization, and functioning of the Interministerial Investment Promotion Committee;
- Amendment of decree no. 2018-165 of May 2, 2018, defining the powers, composition, and operating procedures of the Public-Private Partnership Support Unit in the Republic of Benin;
- Appointment of auditors to certain public enterprises
COMMUNICATIONS
- Special measures for the inclusion of persons with disabilities;
- Social measures for the benefit of the three levels of education for the 2026-2027 school and university year;
- Implementation of the pilot phase of the Agricultural Productivity and Social Protection Program for Benin’s farmers;
- Construction works of 35 integrated economic, social, and digital centers in 26 municipalities;
- Signing of concession agreements for off-grid electrification of twelve (12) rural localities.
