Kétou: a burglary investigation leads police to the seizure of more than 21 kg of Indian hemp
What began as a routine burglary investigation turned, in Kétou, into a major operation against drug trafficking.
Alerted by a burglary complaint, the district police station managed to identify a suspect thanks to serious and consistent clues, leading investigators straight to a hideout located in the Obafèmi neighborhood.
The arrest on site, however, escalated into a confrontation. Police officers faced fierce resistance of an unusual intensity, a violence that immediately raised suspicions among the hierarchy about the nature of the activities conducted there.
The thorough search that followed quickly proved the investigators right. Law enforcement seized a stock of 21.5 kilograms of Indian hemp, as well as three motorcycles of dubious origin. The operation thus concluded with both the arrest of the wanted suspect and the dismantling of a major drug dealing point.
The investigation is now ongoing to identify all the branches of this criminal network in the region.
