University transport will resume on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Benin with a fare set at 200 FCFA per trip. The resumption will serve students from public universities and will rely on the 63 new buses announced by the government to expand service to 12 cities.

The official report from the Council of Ministers on September 2 confirmed the revival and enhancement of the service across four public universities: the University of Abomey-Calavi, the University of Parakou, the National University of Agriculture of Kétou, and the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics of Abomey. The document from the Government General Secretariat outlines a fleet of 63 buses and new routes.

The announced routes will connect Abomey-Calavi, Cotonou, Porto-Novo, Dangbo, Adjarra, Abomey, Dassa-Zoumè, Lokossa, Natitingou, Sakété, Kétou, and Parakou. This system is designed to link the main university hubs with several student residential areas.

The fare was not specified in the Council of Ministers’ report. As the launch date approaches, information released by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research sets the ticket price at 200 FCFA per trip, according to Le Béninois Libéré and L’Investigateur.

The revival of transport is part of a series of social measures adopted for the 2026-2027 academic year. The same Council of Ministers decided to increase student scholarships, rehabilitate university cafeterias, and improve housing, lighting, and infirmaries on campuses.

At the University of Abomey-Calavi, a rectoral announcement dated September 3, cited by L’Investigateur, urges students to register for the service via universervices.bj using their RBER Connect access. Transport tickets purchased through this channel will be valid starting September 21.
