Ballon d’Or 2026: Cape Verdean Vozinha named among the best goalkeepers of the year
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha is among the nominees for the trophy awarded to the best male goalkeeper of the year 2026. This distinction recognizes his outstanding performances with his national team during the World Cup.
Vozinha is among the goalkeepers shortlisted for the 2026 Male Goalkeeper of the Year award. The list of nominees, revealed on Tuesday, notably recognizes his performance with Cape Verde during the last World Cup. At 40 years old, the Cape Verdean goalkeeper will have to face strong competition.
He is notably competing against the Argentine Emiliano Martínez and the Senegalese Édouard Mendy, as well as eight other goalkeepers vying for this prestigious award. The name of the winner will be announced next month in London, during the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
