AFCON 2025: South Africa’s preliminary squad list
South Africa’s national team coach, Hugo Broos, has unveiled the preliminary list of players selected for AFCON 2025. The tournament will take place from December 21 to January 18, 2026 in Morocco.

Also qualified for the final phase, South Africa has revealed its provisional squad for the tournament. Coach Hugo Broos has selected a group of 55 Bafana Bafana. Among them are Tylon Smith, a 20-year-old Amajita defender who plays for Queens Park Rangers’ reserve team in the English Championship, and Shandre Campbell of Club Brugge, the Belgian giant.
Relebohile Mofokeng, the Orlando Pirates star, and TS Galaxy playmaker Siphesihle Maduna are also on the list. Hugo Broos is expected to announce his final 23-man squad “in the coming days”, according to SAFA’s statement published on Monday. Bafana Bafana are in Group B with Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe.
