AFCON 2025: South Africa’s final squad
South Africa’s national team coach, Hugo Broos, has unveiled his final squad for AFCON 2025 in Morocco. A mostly home-based core strengthened by a few foreign-based talents.

SUMMARY
With less than three weeks until the kick-off of AFCON 2025 in Morocco, South Africa was the first nation to reveal its squad. Coach Hugo Broos delivered a 25-player list that fully embodies his desire to build on the momentum established since the third-place finish in Ivory Coast in 2023.
As usual, the Belgian coach has retained a core largely drawn from the domestic league. Players from Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy form the heart of a group that has gained valuable experience in African club competitions. That said, a few players based abroad add pace, creativity and attacking variety. A combination Broos considers essential to compete at the highest continental level.
