The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant revaluation of cash prizes for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
This is without a doubt additional motivation for the teams that will animate the finals of the Women’s CAN 2025, beginning this Saturday in Morocco. The CAF has decided to raise the prize money, with the tournament winner taking home a cool one million dollars.
The unfortunate finalists will receive 500,000 dollars, while the team ranked third will receive a reward of 350,000 dollars. The governing body of African football has specified that this increase will apply to all participating teams.
Twelve nations will take part in this edition of 2024 postponed to this year, which will take place in Morocco. The host country is in Group A, along with Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Group B includes Nigeria, Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria. The reigning South African champions, the Banyana Banyana, will play in Group C, along with Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.
The competition will kick off this Saturday with the opening game between Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses and Zambia’s Copper Queens. Nigeria, the most titled nation in the history of the tournament with nine victories, will begin its campaign against Tunisia in Casablanca. The Banyana Banyana, current champions, will enter the race next Monday against Ghana’s Black Queens.
