Senegal: Reug Reug case expands, horse racing promoter actively sought

The investigation into Senegalese wrestler Oumar Kane, known as Reug Reug, in an alleged counterfeit ticket case has broadened with the active search for a horse racing promoter mentioned during the hearings.

According to Seneweb, investigators from the Dakar/Faidherbe Research Brigade are trying to locate this individual following statements from another suspect, identified as a saltigué. This suspect reportedly claimed to have previously received “black tickets” from this promoter.

Reug Reug, A. B. Ndiaye, and D. Faye are currently facing charges of conspiracy and counterfeiting legal tender, according to information published by Senegalese media. The facts remain subject to the ongoing judicial process.

The case began after a tip-off received on September 18 by the Research Brigade. An undercover agent allegedly posed as a technician capable of “cleaning” the darkened tickets, which led to the arrest of the suspects on September 24.

Investigators also seized a vehicle used by Reug Reug and materials presented as $100 bills. The case is set to be forwarded to the judiciary after the conclusion of the police custody period.
