CAN 2027 Qualifiers: Algeria defeats Zambia 3-1 in Hemdani’s debut
Algeria kicked off its CAN 2027 qualifying campaign with a 3-1 victory over Zambia in Tizi Ouzou, marking Brahim Hemdani's first match in charge of the Fennecs.
Algeria defeated Zambia 3-1 on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Hocine-Aït-Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, marking their entry into the CAN 2027 qualifiers and Brahim Hemdani’s first match as head coach.
The Fennecs took the lead through Jaouen Hadjam before Ibrahim Maza doubled the advantage. Zambia managed to pull one back, but Anis Hadj Moussa then scored Algeria’s third goal.
This victory allows Algeria to secure three points on the opening day of their group. CAF confirmed the 3-1 scoreline in its match report for the day.
Hemdani took charge of the national team with a revamped squad, as several players from the last World Cup were not selected for this gathering.
