Presidential 2026: BUS signs up gas sellers for the Wadagni-Talata ticket.

The momentum around the April 12, 2026 presidential election continues to grow. The Association of Sanitation Actors in the Petroleum Products Sector (AAASPP) has officially joined the Benin Unified and Solidary platform (BUS), clearly showing its commitment to the Romuald Wadagni – Mariam Talata duo. Held this Wednesday in Sainte Cécile, on the occasion of the installation of the Littoral departmental and municipal offices, the ceremony quickly went beyond a corporate framework to take on the look of an electoral mobilization rally.

Structuring of the sector and call for discipline

In a solemn address, the AAASPP Secretary General, Vodounon Edouard, recalled the internal stakes of the sector: L’installation of these departmental and municipal offices constitutes a major step in the structuring and consolidation of our association, he said, insisting on the need for strict oversight.

In light of the observed drift, he called for a change in behavior: It is imperative to put an end to certain practices , citing in particular the non-compliance with prices , the anarchic selling or even the customs fraud . Before underscoring the need for professionalization: The respect for these standards is a fundamental requirement. It guarantees the safety of the population, protects our activities and strengthens the credibility of our profession.

A mobilization in support of the authorities

Beyond the structuring, the political message was clearly embraced. The president of the AAASPP, Henri Comlan Assogba, hailed the sector’s rising power: This exceptional mobilization (…) is living proof that the informal gasoline sector is standing, organized, aware of its role and ready to make its voice heard.

Acknowledging the reforms undertaken under President Patrice Talon, he stressed the need to translate this recognition into ballots: On April 12, 2026, go out in large numbers to fulfill your civic duty. It is an act of recognition, a strong message and a demonstration of our collective power.

BUS, a mass-mobilization tool

Speaking on behalf of the BUS platform, Innocent Adjidé set the tone for a structured field campaign: You must go from house to house to raise awareness among the population so that they turn out in large numbers on April 12, 2026 to vote for the bearer of the society project “Further, Together.”

An appeal echoed by facilitator Aubin Adoukonou, who stresses the urgency of engagement: The objective is clear: achieving a very high turnout. Among the ranks, the message is five out of five: the battle will be won on the ground, in direct contact with the population.

This membership illustrates the BUS platform’s strategy, led by Christian Yenoussi, which is multiplying alliances across the country. Launched on February 12, the initiative already claims nearly 200 movements and associations. Aiming to be inclusive, the platform emphasizes its non-partisan nature while embracing its role in mobilizing the electorate.

The leaders also remind that its doors “remain open to all”, in a spirit of gathering around the project advocated by the Wadagni candidate.

A key sector in the electoral battle

With this membership, informal gasoline actors now intend to play a central role in the campaign. Their weight in the national economy and their strong local presence make them a strategic relay. “We are not a band of circumstance (…) we are a solid, structured, and credible organization,” insisted Henri Comlan Assogba.

With less than three weeks to the vote, the message is clear: mobilization is underway. And on the AAASPP side, the choice is now embraced: to transform their organization into an electoral force in the service of the Wadagni–Talata duo.
