Nigeria: 15 years after its launch, Zaron expands its offering to hair care
At 15 years old, the Nigerian brand Zaron expands its beauty routine with a first hair care line, a new venture for a company founded around the needs of women of color.

Fifteen years after entering the Nigerian market, Zaron is opening a new chapter in the bathroom. The brand celebrated its anniversary on September 11 in Lagos by unveiling its first hair care line. Previously known for makeup and skincare, it is now adding hair to its beauty universe.
This expansion brings together under one brand complexion, skin, and hair care. BusinessDay and Punch confirm that the hair care range represents a new category within the Zaron portfolio. However, neither outlet has detailed the composition, complete list of references, or specific promises associated with the products.
Zaron was conceived in Leeds in 2010 by Oke Maduewesi before launching its operations in Lagos in September 2011. The founder identified a lack of products designed specifically for women of color, particularly to better address the skin tones and needs of an African clientele.
Over the past fifteen years, the offering has expanded from makeup to skincare. Leading Ladies Africa reports that the brand now has 25 franchised stores, over 800 distributors, and a presence in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. The introduction of hair care extends an already ongoing diversification rather than being a mere one-off launch.
Zaron has not yet disclosed, in the sources consulted, the details of the formulas or the hair types targeted by each reference. Therefore, it is too early to assess the practical impact of this line beyond the expansion of the catalog. The launch primarily indicates that the brand aims to cover a broader scope than just makeup and skincare.
The celebration on September 11 at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, also served to unveil Yoke Sefia as the Face of Zaron 2026. Rita Dominic Anosike, Sharon Ooja Nwoke, Awele Elumelu, and Kate Henshaw were among the personalities present at the event marking the brand’s 15th anniversary.
