Napoli-Arsenal: McTominay out after successful cardiac ablation

Scott McTominay will miss the Napoli-Arsenal clash on Wednesday, 9 September in the Champions League. The 29-year-old Scottish midfielder underwent an ablation procedure on Tuesday at Spire Manchester Hospital to treat a mild and benign cardiac arrhythmia, the Italian club announced.

Napoli stated that the procedure was successful and that the player would observe about two weeks of rest before returning to training. The information was confirmed by Reuters and Associated Press, which reported the club’s medical statement.

McTominay had already missed Napoli’s 3-2 defeat to Inter in Serie A. He is also expected to miss upcoming league matches against Bologna and Fiorentina, with his return anticipated after the next international break.

His absence leaves Massimiliano Allegri without a key midfielder for Napoli’s European debut against Arsenal. The match will be held at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, with kickoff scheduled for 21h00 local time.

Two weeks of rest before returning

The Neapolitan club reported no complications following the procedure. Napoli’s schedule now allows for approximately two weeks of rest before training resumes.
