Mara’Monde 2026: Vice-champions Benin drawn with Belgium, Mali, and Jamaica
As reigning vice-champions, Benin has been placed in Group D of the Mara’Monde 2026 alongside Belgium, Mali, and Jamaica. Fifteen Squirrels have been selected for Douala.
Benin will face Belgium, Mali, and Jamaica in Group D of the Mara’Monde 2026, scheduled from September 25 to October 8 in Douala. The reigning vice-champions, the Squirrels, will head to Cameroon with a squad of fifteen players.
Benin’s status stems from their performance in the inaugural edition in 2024 in Abidjan. The Squirrels reached the final before losing to Ivory Coast, a result detailed in our article on the Mara’Monde 2024 final.
The Benin Maracana Federation has selected five players from the Juniors, seven from the Seniors, and three from the Super-Seniors. The junior squad includes Oladele Camille Fafoumi, Saliou Balla Allabani, Sagbo Alexis Ao, Chamouss-Dine Tchoana, and Rasacky Koto.
For the Seniors, the selected players are Salifou Moumouni, Jacques Amon, Yètègnon Ignac Bokpe, Abdou Fataou Soule, Marc Birnel Chabi, Aboudou Taofik Affo Gao, and Cédrique Abraham Kotchoni. Louis Ireke Agonhossou, Darius Ablo, and Saturnin Fadonougbo complete the delegation in the Super-Seniors category.
The draw places Benin against three opponents from different regions. Belgium will represent European opposition, Mali will provide an African duel, and Jamaica will complete this Group D. The International Maracana Federation presents the Cameroonian event as the second edition of the World Cup for the discipline.
The final list was confirmed by the Benin Maracana Federation after a selection process that involved 47 pre-selected players. The fifteen chosen are distributed among the three categories that Benin will compete in at Douala.
