Kim Kardashian awarded symbolic one euro for Paris robbery

Kim Kardashian received a symbolic one euro in damages on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, for the armed robbery she suffered in Paris in 2016. This amount precisely matches the sum requested by the American celebrity.

In a joint statement with her stylist Simone Harouche, who was also compensated with one euro, Kim Kardashian explained that the decision primarily represented an acknowledgment of the trauma and responsibilities involved. The two women expressed their gratitude to the French justice system.

The court also awarded 109,516 euros to the former receptionist of the Hôtel de Pourtalès, who had been subdued by the robbers, as well as 50,000 euros to the Parisian establishment. The receptionist had sought a higher amount for the psychological consequences of the assault.

On the night of October 2 to 3, 2016, five men disguised as police officers entered the residence where Kim Kardashian was staying during Fashion Week. Threatened with a weapon, bound, and locked in a bathroom, she was robbed of jewelry valued at over six million dollars.

The star recounted in court that she thought she was going to die during the attack. Among the items taken was a ring given to her by her former husband Kanye West, estimated to be worth around four million dollars.

Eight individuals were convicted in May 2025 for their involvement in the robbery or its planning. Several defendants, nicknamed the “grandpa robbers” due to their age, were not sent back to prison, particularly considering the time they had already served.

Most of the stolen jewelry has never been recovered. The engagement ring taken from the Paris apartment also remains missing.
