Gabon: Oilserv to develop two blocks to supply power plants and industry

Gabon and the Nigerian energy group Oilserv have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development and commercialization of hydrocarbon resources from blocks DEF-3 and D4-5. The agreement also includes infrastructure for the transportation, compression, and processing of gas to support electricity production and industrial activities.

The agreement was signed by Gabon’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Clotaire Kondja, on behalf of the Gabonese state, and by the Chief Executive Officer of Oilserv Group, Emeka Okwuosa. The company presents the operation as an expansion of its activities in Central Africa.

In addition to the development of the two blocks, the arrangement aims to transport and process the produced gas to supply thermal power plants and industrial uses. The memorandum thus links the development of upstream resources with the necessary infrastructure for their valorization in the Gabonese market.

The memorandum does not specify the reserves associated with blocks DEF-3 and D4-5, the expected volumes, the amount of investment, or a production timeline. The signed document currently serves as a framework for their development and commercialization.
