Fenerbahçe crush Eyüpspor 8-0 for their largest Süper Lig victory

Fenerbahçe demolished Eyüpspor 8-0 on Sunday, September 20, in Istanbul, marking the largest victory in the club’s history in the Süper Lig. Vedat Muriqi was the standout performer, scoring four goals, while Mason Greenwood added a brace.

Greenwood opened the scoring with a penalty in the 5th minute. Muriqi then struck in the 7th and 21st minutes, followed by goals from Mattéo Guendouzi in the 38th minute and Irfan Can Kahveci in stoppage time of the first half. Fenerbahçe led 5-0 at halftime.

Muriqi completed his hat-trick with goals in the 47th and 55th minutes. Greenwood capped off the scoring in the 80th minute, bringing the total number of goals for the Istanbul club at the Chobani Stadium to eight.

The Kosovar now has six goals in the league this season, just one behind Mohamed Salah. He is also the first Fenerbahçe player to score four goals in a league match since Cengiz Ünder in January 2024.

This performance brings Fenerbahçe to 10 points after six matches, while Eyüpspor remains at three points. According to Anadolu, the yellow and blue club is also the first team in the top ten European leagues to score five goals in the first half this season.

Fenerbahçe had previously scored eight goals in three league matches, but never won by an eight-goal margin: 8-4 against Gaziantepspor in 1992, and then 8-1 against Samsunspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor in 1994.
