“Cristiano, No. 1”, Endrick smitten with Cristiano Ronaldo
The young Brazilian striker Endrick regards Cristiano Ronaldo as his ultimate role model and dreams of playing alongside him to learn from him.
At only 18, Endrick doesn’t hide his idols or his ambitions. In an interview given to L’Equipe, the Brazilian sensation delivered a statement full of admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he regards as an absolute reference and a model to follow.
Asked about the players who inspire him, the Madrid-born striker, on loan this season to OL, was clear: “Cristiano, number 1, is someone I want to play with one day“. A strong statement, accompanied by an acknowledged respect for other Brazilian legends, but without the same personal resonance. “If Pelé, Romário, Adriano or Ronaldo were playing, I wouldn’t go. But watching Cristiano play and watching more of his videos, I have no doubt about my reference“, he explained.
Beyond talent, it’s mainly the Portuguese’s work ethic that fascinates Endrick. “He works harder than others. He doesn’t worry about what’s going on around him. He keeps working and doing what needs to be done. That’s what I admire most about him“, the young Brazilian international said.
Desiring to improve by learning from the best, Endrick now has a clear wish: “I hope he can keep playing so I can learn more and more from him.” A statement that says a lot about the mindset of a prodigy already oriented toward excellence.
