Barbra Banda will remain with Orlando Pride until the 2029 season. The NWSL club secured the future of its 26-year-old Zambian forward on Monday, September 14, after she set a record with 16 goals in 20 matches this season.

The new agreement extends her previous contract by two seasons, which was set to run until 2027. Financial details have not been disclosed. Orlando retains a player who has become one of the key figures in its attack since her arrival in Florida in 2024.

Banda has totaled 41 goals and 11 assists in 62 appearances in NWSL competitions since joining the team. Her total of 16 goals in 2026 marks the record for Orlando Pride in a single season, surpassing the previous mark of 13 held by Marta and matched by Banda in 2024.

The captain of the Copper Queens contributed to Orlando’s double in 2024, winning both the Shield and the NWSL championship title. In 2025, she became the first player in the club’s history to score a hat-trick, before returning to competition this year after an injury had cut her previous season short.

This extension comes less than a week after her third consecutive nomination for the Ballon d’Or Féminin. Orlando Pride confirmed on September 8 that the forward was among the candidates for the 2026 edition.

Orlando Pride is set to face Portland Thorns on Saturday, September 19. Banda will approach this match with 16 goals this season, having scored a brace in the 2-2 draw against Kansas City Current on September 11.
