Victimized by racism for being chosen to perform at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Aya Nakamura responds to her critics with her new single.

Selected to perform an Edith Piaf song during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on July 26, 2024, Aya Nakamura has been the target of racist criticism. However, she has not been without support: Edith Piaf’s descendants have shown their solidarity.

In response to the controversies, Aya Nakamura released a new track, ‘Doggy’, on online streaming platforms, accompanied by a vibrant and colorful music video. In the new song, the French-Malian singer can be heard singing, “I don’t have enemies, it’s them who do not like me / A bunch of enemies, but I don’t even know them,” indicating her sentiments before continuing in the song with, “No need for anyone to approve of me, I make the covers of magazines,” sounding like a clapback at her detractors.

In the video, we see the star celebrating life and friendship, showing that she is always ready to party with vigor and zest.
