Morocco: Guizhou Tire will invest nearly 300 million dollars in a tire factory.

This new facility would strengthen the Chinese industrial presence in the Moroccan automotive ecosystem, which is already supported by the northern country’s port and logistics infrastructures, as well as its proximity to European markets.

According to information provided by Guizhou Tire, the investment pertains to the construction of a factory specializing in the production of tires for passenger cars. The group did not specify, in the available information, the annual production capacity, the commissioning schedule, or the number of jobs that the project might generate.

A Focus on Export

The factory is expected to be installed in Tanger Tech City, an industrial platform developed to host companies operating in export-oriented sectors. Its location would allow the Chinese manufacturer to get closer to European markets and benefit from Morocco’s industrial integration with several African economies.

The choice of the Kingdom is part of a strategy to attract foreign investments in the automotive sector. The country already hosts activities related to the production of vehicles, components, and equipment for the automotive industry, particularly in the regions of Tangier and Kenitra.

The Guizhou Tire project also comes amid a growing interest in Chinese investments in Morocco, where Asian groups are looking into the automotive sector, batteries, renewable energy, and other segments related to the energy transition.

However, the announcement does not yet constitute a move to production. The next steps will need to clarify the construction schedule, financing arrangements, and any local permits necessary for the realization of the factory.
