The Manchester United legend Gary Neville has spoken about the Champions League semi-final between Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal FC. The Madrid club hosts the Gunners on Wednesday night for the first leg, but the former English defender is skeptical about the Londoners’ chances. According to him, the team led by Mikel Arteta could run into the solidity of Diego Simeone’s men.
In his podcast, Neville nonetheless nuanced his analysis by discussing Arsenal’s league situation. There are only four matches left, which could suggest that a double is feasible, he explained, before hedging: But I don’t see them getting past Atlético or going all the way in the Champions League.
On the other hand, the former England international believes more in the Gunners’ chances in the Premier League. A competition where, in his view, Arsenal still has solid arguments in the closing stretch.
