Arsenal: Paul Dickov sees Declan Rice winning the Ballon d’Or in 2026
The former Arsenal striker, Paul Dickov, believes that Declan Rice can aim for the Ballon d’Or if the Gunners clinch the Champions League, highlighting the pivotal role of the English midfielder in Mikel Arteta’s project.

Paul Dickov believes that Declan Rice possesses all the qualities to contend for the Ballon d’Or, provided Arsenal win the Champions League. The former Gunner forward has not spared praise for the English international, whom he regards as one of the most complete midfielders in European football today. In remarks relayed by the Irish Mirror, Dickov praised Rice’s substantial impact in Mikel Arteta’s system. “Declan is an exceptional player, capable of excelling in all aspects of the game“, he explained.
According to him, the race for the Ballon d’Or will depend primarily on Arsenal’s European campaign rather than any potential Premier League title. “For the Ballon d’Or, the Champions League remains the decisive factor. If Arsenal win the competition, Declan Rice will have a real chance to claim this award“, added Dickov. Having arrived from West Ham United, Rice quickly established himself as one of the leaders of the London midfield thanks to his work rate, his technical quality, and his influence in big matches.
