Senegalese coach Aliou Cissé named Nigeria’s Super Eagles among the main contenders for the title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will begin next month in Morocco. In search of a fourth continental crown, Nigeria, according to the former Senegal coach, is in the very small circle of teams capable of going all the way.

In an interview with WinWin, Cissé thus cited several favourites: “Morocco is a serious contender, as is Senegal, of course. But you must also reckon with Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria.” Placed in Group C, the Super Eagles will face Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda. Their opening match is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23 in Fez, against the Taifa Stars.
