Six motorcycles and two tricycles seized, three individuals arrested.
The Republican Police dealt a major blow to a motorcycle theft network operating in Ouèdèmè, a locality in the commune of Lokossa (Mono department).
The operation, carried out on June 4, 2025, by the district police, dismantled a structured network involved in the theft and resale of two and three-wheeled vehicles.
According to information from the investigation, this network was active in the village of Djodji-Zounmé. Their method involved enlisting a mechanic and an electrician to alter the appearance of the stolen motorcycles, thus erasing any possibility of identification by the rightful owners. Fake license plates were then affixed, allowing the machines to be resold on the local or regional market.
Following a raid conducted by the Police, six stolen motorcycles and two tricycles were recovered. Fake administrative documents were also seized.
Three suspected members of the network were apprehended during the operation. They have been taken into custody and will face charges for criminal association, theft, complicity, and concealment.
