2026 local elections: CENA launches training for electoral agents
The National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) officially launched, on January 1, 2026, the training of electoral agents who will participate in the smooth conduct of the legislative and municipal elections scheduled for January 11, 2026.

This training session, organized from January 2 to 9, 2026, aims to equip these essential actors of the electoral process with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out their duties smoothly.
The opening ceremony was held at CENA’s headquarters, in the presence of several officials of the institution and designated trainers to oversee this activity.
According to CENA officials, the objective of this training is to strengthen the efficiency and cohesion of the teams that will be deployed on the ground in polling stations, registration centers, and supervisory structures.
The modules covered include, in particular, the role and responsibilities of electoral agents, the procedures for conducting the vote, the management of official documents, as well as the offences and penalties provided by the electoral law in case of violations.
Participants were also instructed on the use of voting materials and logistical tools, as well as on the principles of fairness and neutrality to observe throughout the process. Q&A sessions are planned to clarify any ambiguities and ensure a common understanding of the procedures.
The CENA emphasized that the training of electoral agents constitutes a decisive step for the credibility and transparency of the upcoming elections. It thus seeks to ensure that all personnel involved are fully prepared before Election Day.
This initiative is part of the final preparations for the general elections, which mobilize political actors, citizens and institutions around a key issue for the country’s democratic life.
CENA has invited candidates, political parties and all stakeholders to support these efforts to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the electoral timelines.
