Strikes in Iran: Tehran targeted by a joint Israeli-American operation
Explosions rocked the Iranian capital overnight, after strikes claimed by Washington and Tel Aviv, who say they intend to neutralize imminent threats from the Iranian regime.

Explosions were reported overnight in Tehran, while the Israeli army carried out strikes against targets inside Iran, according to several regional media outlets. The Qatari channel Al Jazeera, citing an American official, says that these attacks are part of a joint military operation between Israel and the United States.
The Iranian state-affiliated news agency Fars reported that several missiles struck University Street as well as the Jomhouri district, in the center of the capital, causing significant plumes of smoke. The semi-official Tasnim agency also reported explosions in the Seyyed Khandan district, north of Tehran.
Other Iranian media report strikes in various regions of the country, notably in Ilam Province, in the west. U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed the launch of a “major combat operation” in Iran, saying that it aims to “eliminate the imminent threats from the Iranian regime” and to “defend the American people.”
For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that these strikes aimed to “eliminate the threats facing the State of Israel.” At this stage, no official toll has been released by Iranian authorities.
