“Signalgate”: new damning revelations for Pete Hegseth

- Publicité-

The Trump administration is once again at the center of controversy. This time, the spotlight is on Pete Hegseth, current Secretary of Defense and a close ally of Donald Trump. According to an investigation by The New York Times, Hegseth allegedly shared classified military information via the encrypted messaging app Signal with several members of his personal circle—a move intelligence experts view as highly concerning.

Among the recipients of these messages were his wife, his brother, and his personal attorney—none of whom held the required “Top Secret” security clearance. The messages reportedly included sensitive details about airstrikes targeting Houthi militias in Yemen. These revelations come as Hegseth is already under internal investigation for a previous breach that occurred a month earlier, when a journalist was accidentally added to a confidential group chat.

The Washington Post confirms that the Pentagon has launched a formal investigation. Inside the Department of Defense, tensions are running high. A former Pentagon spokesperson described the situation to Politico as a “month from hell” marked by “total chaos” at the highest levels of national security.

Donald Trump, for his part, continues to stand by his Defense Secretary for now. However, this scandal—already dubbed “Signalgate”—could further weaken the inner circle of the former president.
