AirBadminton: 10 Beninese athletes compete for world qualification in Entebbe
Ten Beninese badminton players are in Entebbe for the African AirBadminton Championships from September 16 to 19, 2026. The continental podium also carries the stakes of qualification for the next world event.
Benin is sending ten athletes to the 3rd African AirBadminton Championships, which kick off on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Entebbe, Uganda. The Beninese team arrives on the shores of Lake Victoria with a dual objective: to aim for a continental medal and secure qualification for the upcoming World Championship in the discipline.
The African Badminton Confederation has scheduled the competition from September 16 to 19 at Aero Beach. Fourteen nations and over 120 participants are expected, according to the Ugandan Badminton Association, with Benin among the teams anticipated on the sands of Entebbe.
The Beninese delegation consists of ten badminton players. They will compete in team relays as well as in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles and triples events. These formats place the depth of the squad at the heart of Benin’s campaign.
The Beninese athletes have already arrived in Uganda after departing from Cotonou. Both La Nation and Canal 3 Benin report that the continental competition also serves as a qualifying pathway for the next World AirBadminton event.
The Entebbe edition marks the third African Championship. Uganda, the winner of the 2024 edition, will host teams from Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia, Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, in addition to Benin and other participating delegations.
A managers’ meeting and the draw were scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, in Entebbe. The first matches are set to take place on Wednesday, September 16, with the championship concluding on Saturday, September 19.
