PSG – Mbappé case: Paris club heavily sanctioned
French justice on Tuesday ordered PSG to pay nearly €61 million to its former forward, Kylian Mbappé, after a long legal battle.

The legal saga between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappé reached a dramatic conclusion before the Labour Court. After several months of an intense legal battle, the court largely sided with the current Real Madrid forward, ordering the Paris club to pay him an amount estimated at nearly €61 million.
At the heart of the dispute were salaries and bonuses that Mbappé said he never received before leaving PSG in the summer of 2024. The capital club tried to defend itself by invoking an alleged moral agreement under which the player would have agreed not to leave Paris freely. A line of defense that did not convince the judges.
The proceedings had taken an especially contentious turn, with PSG even demanding several hundred million euros from its former No. 7, while Mbappé’s camp denounced serious breaches in the execution of his contract. Despite an interim win on appeal for the club, the final decision is against it.
In addition to the financial penalty, the Labour Court ordered the judgment to be published on PSG’s official website for one month, a symbolically significant measure. The club still has the option to appeal.
