The artist claims that no other Nigerian musician has more hits than him. In a recent livestream with streamer Davrel, the performer of Omo Baba Olowo even proposed a particularly spectacular challenge to his peers. He declared that he is ready to put one million dollars on the line in a hit contest against any artist who would dare to challenge him. “I’m putting a million dollars cash on the table. No one has more hits than me,” Davido stated.

A major figure in Afrobeats, the singer has built an impressive discography full of hits over the years, both in Nigeria and internationally. His main rivals include artists like Wizkid, Olamide, Burna Boy, Tekno, and Runtown. So far, none of them have publicly responded to the challenge issued by Davido.

A challenge that recalls Burna Boy’s

This announcement is reminiscent of Burna Boy’s during the lockdown related to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. At that time, the singer had also launched a musical challenge to his compatriots.

Reekado Banks, then a prominent member of the Mavin Records label, was the only artist to accept the challenge. However, Burna Boy had refused the face-off, deeming his compatriot not a “worthy opponent.”
