Nigeria: Lookman outlines the ambitions of the Super Eagles for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers

The Super Eagles want to make a successful start. Nigeria will begin its campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next Thursday against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Three days later, Eric Chelle’s men will head to Bissau to face Guinea-Bissau on the second matchday, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29.

For Ademola Lookman, these two matches are already significant appointments. The Atlético de Madrid forward expects competitive confrontations, while assuring that Nigeria intends to fully seize its chances. “The whole team is really looking forward to it. Two very important matches are coming up, and the opponents are, of course, difficult to face,” Lookman stated on Sporty TV, as reported by FootballApp.

The Nigerian international, however, refuses to dwell on the difficulty of the schedule. The objective is clearly stated: to take the maximum number of points during these first two matchdays. “But we really want to win these two matches. We know that the games will be difficult, but we will do everything we can to achieve that,” he added. A three-time African champion, Nigeria aims to quickly take control of its qualifying campaign. The reception of Madagascar in Uyo will be the first step before the trip to Guinea-Bissau.
