Ahmed Musa has officially ended his international career. The announcement was made Wednesday by the former Super Eagles captain on his social media, a report relayed by the Daily Post. Aged 33 and now general manager of Kano Pillars, a club in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Musa issued an emotional message to mark fifteen years wearing the national jersey.

“I wore this jersey with pride for 15 years. From a 17-year-old boy answering every call to the most capped player in Super Eagles history with 111 caps. African champion. Nigeria’s top scorer at a World Cup. Captain. Servant. Believer. I gave everything. Thank you Nigeria… my heart will always beat green”, he wrote on X.

The Nigerian winger made his international debut on September 5, 2010, in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Madagascar. A major figure in the national team for more than a decade, he was one of the architects of the 2013 continental triumph in South Africa. Ahmed Musa leaves behind a unique legacy: he remains the only Nigerian player to have scored more than one goal in the same World Cup match, confirming his special place in the history of Nigerian football.
