Mylène Farmer takes on censorship in the dystopian video for “Des lols et des quoi”

Mylène Farmer unveiled the video for “Des lols et des quoi” on Friday, September 11, 2026, a new single from her album Égrégore. Filmed at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the video depicts a dystopian society where words are monitored and confined.

Directed by brothers Thierry and Didier Poiraud, the short film adopts the codes of a heist movie. The action takes place in the Oval Room of the Richelieu site, transformed into a library under the control of an authoritarian regime.

Dressed in black, Mylène Farmer enters the premises with a group of rebels. Their target is neither money nor jewelry, but a book kept under glass: Les Amours by Pierre de Ronsard, whose name also appears in the song.

The visual narrative extends the theme of the track, focusing on the impoverishment of language and the decline of free expression. Contemporary vocabulary and literary references clash without the video reducing popular language to a threat.

A new chapter for the album “Égrégore”

“Des lols et des quoi” follows “C’est à qui le tour,” which was released in the spring with a video directed by Julia Ducournau. Mylène Farmer continues her series of collaborations with filmmakers to build the visual universe of her thirteenth studio album.

Égrégore is set to be released on October 30, 2026. Two days earlier, on October 27, a fully visual version of the album will be presented during a unique cinema screening, which will include this new video.

The single has been available on streaming platforms since midnight. The official video, nearly five minutes long, was uploaded at noon on Mylène Farmer’s YouTube channel.
