According to the British daily Metro, the Reds’ bosses are considering keeping the Dutch coach in place, at least until the start of next season.
Arrived in 2024 to succeed Jürgen Klopp, Slot had nevertheless managed a remarkable start in England, guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season. But the momentum has markedly reversed this year. The Mersey club is currently in fifth place in the standings, with only a narrow lead over Chelsea FC, and seems out of the title race.
On the European stage, the situation is just as delicate. Beaten in the away leg by PSG, the Reds will have to overturn a two-goal deficit in the return match to hope to continue their continental journey. Despite this challenging context, Liverpool FC’s management would favor stability, notably due to the close relationship maintained between Arne Slot and Xabi Alonso, an influential figure in European football.
