Legislative elections 2026: final day to submit candidacies to the CENA
The National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) is entering the final stretch of the candidate filing phase for the 2026 legislative elections.

This Wednesday, November 19, 2025, is the last day for political parties to submit their candidate lists.
Originally scheduled for November 8 to 12, this deadline was moved to November 15–19 after a request from CENA was accepted by the Constitutional Court.
Thus, parties have a window until midnight tonight to submit their candidacies to the body in charge of the elections.
Despite the opening of filings last Saturday, the parties in the running appear to be waiting until the final hours to show up at CENA’s headquarters.
For its part, the National Autonomous Electoral Commission warns: no additional time will be granted to parties to complete their files. And any incomplete file will be systematically rejected.
