January 11, 2026 elections: CENA explains the delay in publishing the list of electoral agents
The Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA) justified postponing the publication of the list of electoral staff for the legislative and municipal elections scheduled for January 11, 2026, after it was not made public within the initially planned timeframe.

According to the institution responsible for organizing the vote, this delay is mainly due to objective constraints encountered during the review of candidacy files.
The analysis of the applications, carried out in CENA’s computer room, required in-depth checks due to the exceptionally high volume of files received.
Initially expected between December 7 and 10, the publication of the list of electoral staff was postponed to allow CENA to ensure the reliability and transparency of the process.
During the review of the files, numerous irregularities were noted, including data entry errors, inaccurate information and inconsistencies in the submitted files, which made more thorough checks necessary before validation.
The Commission also reported an insufficient number of applications for certain polling station member positions (MPV), which are essential for the proper conduct of the vote. To address this, the recruitment of MPVs was relaunched on December 10, with a deadline set for December 17.
To date, nearly 6,000 additional staff are expected to cover all logistical needs related to the elections.
CENA nevertheless assured that the review of the files is well advanced and that the publication of the final list will take place as soon as possible, in strict compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory provisions in order to ensure a credible, transparent and well-organized election.
