Ivory Coast: BURIDA allocates 795.4 million FCFA for distribution
Scheduled for September 15, the operation involves 5,435 creators and rights holders. The total amount has more than doubled in a year.
The Ivorian Bureau of Copyright (BURIDA) will distribute 795,442,993 FCFA to 5,435 beneficiaries on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. This operation covers copyright and neighboring rights owed to creators and other rights holders.
The amount was presented on Friday, September 11, in Abidjan by Maxime Ehouman, the Director of Distribution at BURIDA. It exceeds the 354,170,497 FCFA distributed in September 2025 by 441,272,496 FCFA, representing an increase of approximately 124.6% year-on-year.
In detail, 502,345,782 FCFA is allocated to copyright and 293,097,211 FCFA to neighboring rights. The distribution includes 145,723,178 FCFA from traditional rights and revenue from radio, as well as 649,719,815 FCFA from rights that have remained pending.
These pending rights pertain to works that have now been identified or have become eligible for payment. They arise from various modes of exploitation, including mechanical reproduction, occasional performances, radio, television, and telephone hold music.
For mechanical reproduction rights and occasional performances, the calculation is based on the months of April, May, and June 2026. The periods considered for hold music vary according to the operators Orange Côte d’Ivoire, MTN Côte d’Ivoire, and Moov Africa Côte d’Ivoire.
BURIDA has also urged creators to register their works to facilitate their identification during future distributions. This initiative particularly concerns music, audiovisual works, literature, performing arts, and visual arts.
