Gyakie achieves a rare double in the Apple Music Nigeria Top 10

Gyakie confirms that she knows how to travel beyond the borders of Ghana. The singer now has two projects in the exclusive circle of Ghanaian works that have entered the Top 10 of the Apple Music charts in Nigeria: the EP My Diary and the album After Midnight.

The observation was brought back into the spotlight this week by Charts Ghana on X, then relayed on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by MyJoyOnline. The distinction is important: these are not two projects present simultaneously in the Top 10 today, but two separate achievements recorded during the artist’s career.

According to the chart published by Charts Ghana, My Diary, released in 2022, reached 2nd place on the Apple Music Nigeria Albums chart. After Midnight, her first studio album released in 2025, peaked at 9th place. Gyakie is thus one of the few Ghanaian artists to have placed multiple projects in this highly competitive Top 10.

This dual presence is all the more significant given that Nigeria remains one of the most influential markets in African pop. For a Ghanaian artist, establishing a lasting presence there requires moving beyond the impact of a viral single and proving oneself with longer formats.

From “My Diary” to “After Midnight,” a patient progression

Apple Music lists My Diary as a six-track EP released on July 22, 2022. The project notably includes “Something,” “For My Baby,” and “Far Away.” At the time, Gyakie had already gained significant regional visibility thanks to “Forever” and its remix with Nigerian artist Omah Lay.

Three years later, After Midnight has expanded its scope. Released on August 29, 2025, the album features 17 tracks and several international collaborations, including 6LACK, Shatta Wale, Headie One, Young Jonn, and Kojey Radical. Apple Music explains that the project was recorded across Ghana, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and other locations, a geography that reflects the singer’s pan-African and international ambition.

Nigeria holds a special place in this story. Several tracks from After Midnight were conceived or produced there with Nigerian talents, while Gyakie has long cultivated connections with the country’s afrobeats scene.

For the Ghanaian singer, this double achievement is therefore not based on a mere flash in the pan. It reflects a catalogue-building process: an older EP that continues to hold significance in her career, followed by a more ambitious album that has managed to find its place in the same market. In a scene where rankings change rapidly, this repetition of success remains an interesting indicator of audience loyalty.
