The preselection process for the Miss Côte d’Ivoire beauty contest for the Ivorian Diaspora in France is set to take place in a month. Ahead of this event, the list of candidates has been released. Among them is the daughter of the Congolese, Francis Mvemba—Carla Maylis Mvemba.

The selection process for Miss Côte d’Ivoire 2024 is underway, with preselection sessions having started in early March in the Gbêkê region, with Bouaké as its administrative center. Under the leadership of the Miss Côte d’Ivoire Committee (COMICI), chaired by Victor Yapobi, several cities have already hosted these preselections, namely: Dimbokro on March 9, Aboisso on March 16, San Pedro on March 23, Gagnoa on March 31, Abengourou on April 6, and Bondoukou on April 13. The turn of Daloa, located in the Haut-Sassandra region, is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 20.

For some time now, Ivorian women living abroad have also had the opportunity to compete for the title through dedicated preselections in their area of residence. This year, preselections are planned in the United Kingdom and France, specifically in London on April 27 and in Paris on May 11.

Before the Paris preselections, the local committee revealed on Instagram the profiles of the 19 candidates, all equally charming. On this list showcasing beauty and grace, is the name of the daughter of Coco Emilia’s former husband, the Congolese businessman Francis Mvemba. Carla Maylis Mvemba, candidate number 10, stands out not just for her young age of 19 but also for a compelling message accompanying her posted photo. “The objective of my humanitarian project is to implement an assistance and support structure for women and young girls who are victims of physical and/or psychological violence,” she states. Her father simply commented on it by saying: “Miss 10/10 KK.”

Furthermore, when contacted by phone, the communication officer of COMICI in Côte d’Ivoire, Désiré M’Bra provided some clarifications to shed light on the possible candidacy of Carla Maylis Mvemba. “We await the day of the competition. If COMICI validates her candidacy, it’s because she has produced an Ivorian nationality certificate in proper form. It’s not because she is the daughter of a certain individual that she hasn’t provided an appropriate document for her application. Both in Côte d’Ivoire and in France, there are castings taking place, and we check the files and everything,” he explains. He added: “COMICI cannot pronounce on any publication on social networks. It has not yet validated the number of candidates. COMICI will send a supervisor to France to verify everything.
