The goal stated by the parliamentarian is to protect women against “emotional abuses” in long relationships without clear prospects.

“How many women remain committed to relationships without a future, nurtured by hopes that never materialize?”, asks the deputy, who is also the vice-president of the Committee on Social Affairs, Sports, Culture, and Education at the National Assembly.

Through this publication, Armand Gansè wants to initiate a collective reflection on the issue of prolonged romantic commitments, often marked, according to him, by an emotional imbalance to the detriment of women.

However, he has not yet submitted a formal proposal to the Assembly, but is considering a public consultation to enrich his project.

The reaction of internet users was not long in coming. Between enthusiastic support, humorous mockery, and reservations about the legislator’s interference in the private sphere, Armand Gansè’s suggestion is already fueling an unexpected social debate, at the crossroads of women’s rights, cultural norms, and individual freedom.

It remains to see whether this reflection will ever make it through the doors of the hemicycle in the form of a bill.
