Cycling – Tour of Benin 2026: Assal Nadji wins the sprint, Algeria in command on the second stage.
On a lively stage between N’Dali and Tchaourou, the Tour of Benin has once again smiled on Algeria. Assal Nadji proved the fastest in the final sprint, at the end of a day that was lively and contested from start to finish.

The 21st edition of the Benin International Cycling Tour continued its show this Wednesday, April 29 with a demanding second stage between N’Dali and Tchaourou, via Bétérou. On a route of nearly 156 kilometres, the peloton offered an intense race, paced from the first to the last kilometre. From the first pedal strokes, the pace proved particularly high, flirting with an average speed of 50 km/h. Attacks multiplied, none managing to establish a lasting advantage. At Boko’s first intermediate sprint, the Algerian Riahi Anes proved the fastest, ahead of Latvian Kristians Belohvosciks and German Luca Harter.
The rest of the stage was marked by a succession of attacks and regroupings. A leading group, including riders from Eritrea, Belgium, Morocco and Mauritius, tried to widen the gap, before being caught. About forty kilometres from the finish, Belgian Jonas De Schampheleire launched a solo attack, quickly neutralized by a vigilant peloton. In a tense finale, the mass sprint was inevitable. And in this game, the Algerian Assal Nadji proved the strongest to take the victory. A victory that confirms the Algerian domination on this stage and underscores the high level of this 2026 edition.
