CAN Handball 2025: the Cheetahs were swept aside in their opener by Morocco
Back on the continental scene, the Beninese national team suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the Atlas Lions (28-52) on Wednesday, in their opening match of the tournament.

However, this heavy defeat does not spell the end for Benin’s ambitions. Starting Thursday, January 22, the Cheetahs will already be back on the court for a second crucial showdown against Congo. A pivotal match, where they will need to quickly correct mistakes, tighten the defense and boost offensive efficiency to pick up the first points in this group stage and restart the momentum.
