Brazil: Mourinho reprimands Ancelotti after Neymar’s absence
The Portuguese coach José Mourinho did not mince his words regarding Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to exclude Neymar from the Brazilian squad, denouncing a “disrespectful” decision toward the Brazilian star.
The Benfica manager, José Mourinho, strongly criticized Brazil’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, for his choice to do without Neymar during the March international break. According to the Portuguese technician, this decision, which involves omitting Santos FC’s forward, shows a lack of regard for the former Barcelona player, now 34 years old.
Asked by Diario Do Peixe, then relayed by MARCA, José Mourinho illustrated his point with a striking comparison: “Imagine if Portugal did not call Cristiano Ronaldo, or if Argentina did without Lionel Messi.” Before hammering the point home: “We cannot exclude Neymar from the squad without a mutual agreement. It’s a huge lack of respect toward Neymar Jr. He has clearly made a mistake.”
For his part, Neymar did not hide his disappointment after this non-call-up, acknowledging that he had been affected by Carlo Ancelotti’s decision not to retain him for this gathering.
