BloodHound Q50 killed at 22 in ambush in Chicago

Rapper BloodHound Q50, whose real name was Mikquale Cooper, was killed at the age of 22 on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in a shooting in Chicago. Multiple individuals opened fire on his car from two vehicles, according to police, who have not announced any arrests.
The attack occurred shortly before 4:00 am at a gas station in the Fuller Park neighborhood on South Wentworth Avenue. Mikquale Cooper was driving a Tesla when the two vehicles approached and several shooters opened fire.
Hit in the chest and shoulder, the young man did not survive his injuries. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his identity. His manager later told the Chicago Sun-Times that the victim was indeed the artist known as BloodHound Q50.
Surveillance footage shows the rapper returning to his car shortly before the gunfire. The vehicle was riddled with bullets, and the window of a nearby restaurant was also damaged. Police have not confirmed the exact number of shots reported by some witnesses.
BloodHound Q50 was part of the Chicago drill scene. He had released the project Get Back or Die Trying in August and performed at the Rolling Loud festival in May. His music had quickly garnered him a significant audience on streaming platforms and social media.
Investigators have not disclosed a motive or the identity of any suspects. Chicago police detectives are continuing the homicide investigation.
