Benin: Young student found dead hanging in Zogbadjè
A tragic scene shook the district of Zogbadjè, in the town of Abomey-Calavi, on the morning of this Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The lifeless body of a young man was found hanging from a tree behind the bar named “Le Refuge”, not far from the university, reported Africaho.
Alerted by local residents, law enforcement quickly deployed to the scene for the usual findings. According to the initial information gathered, the victim is believed to be a student. His identity remains undisclosed by the authorities at this stage, pending official notification to his family.
On location, neighborhood residents and regular customers of the establishment express shock. Several claim they recognized a young man they had often seen in the area in recent days, without being able to specify what could have led him to this tragic act.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy, and specifically whether it involves a suicide or if other hypotheses should be considered.
