The events that occurred a few days ago have led to the opening of a judicial investigation. The main suspect has been arrested, while an alleged accomplice is still on the run, according to information from Africaho.

According to the initial elements gathered by the investigators, the operation would have been performed by a man with no recognized medical qualifications, but presenting himself as an abortion specialist. The act would have been organized at the request of the pregnancy’s progenitor, who would have participated in planning the intervention before disappearing after the tragedy.

An attempt to conceal

Following complications that occurred during the intervention, the young girl succumbed to her injuries. Panicked, the two men would have then tried to hide the victim’s body by burying it in an isolated field, deep in the bush.

A few days after the facts, eaten away by guilt, the main accused would have confessed what he had done to a village elder. The latter, alert, immediately warned the local authorities.

The Republic Police, informed, went to the scene to ascertain the facts, arrest the suspect and recover the deceased’s body. An autopsy should be ordered to clarify the exact circumstances of the death.

Ongoing proceedings

The prosecutor’s office has opened a judicial procedure for several counts, including manslaughter, illegal practice of medicine, and concealment of a corpse. The presumed accomplice, suspected of being the child’s father, is actively sought by law enforcement.

In the face of this tragedy, the authorities are calling for vigilance against clandestine medical practices, reminding people of the serious and often fatal dangers these acts can cause, particularly for women not cared for in a secure medical setting.
